Can FedEx leave my e-bike package at my front door or garage without a physical signature?
Because an e-bike is a high-value and large-size package, FedEx Standard Security Policy usually requires delivery either to the recipient directly at the front door or garage, or with an approved release authorization. If no one is available to receive the package, FedEx may take it back to the local hub for security reasons.
However, if you would like FedEx to leave the package at your front door or garage, there are two common ways to authorize this in advance.
Option 1: Use FedEx Delivery Manager — Highly Recommended
You can sign up for a free account through FedEx Delivery Manager using your tracking number. After logging in, look for the option called “Provide Shipment Release Authorization.” This officially authorizes the FedEx driver to leave the package at your front door, garage, or another approved location without requiring your physical signature at the time of delivery. This is the most reliable and recommended method because the authorization is submitted directly through FedEx.
Option 2: Leave a Signed Note on Your Door
If you are unable to set up FedEx Delivery Manager, you may also print or handwrite a clear signed note and tape it securely to your front door or garage before the delivery attempt. For example:
“FedEx Driver — Please leave my package, tracking number [Tracking Number], at the front door/garage. I authorize release without a physical signature.
Signature: [Your Signature]
Date: [Date]”
Many FedEx drivers may accept a physically signed note as delivery authorization. However, final acceptance depends on the driver and local FedEx delivery policy.
Important Note: Leaving a signed note does not guarantee that FedEx will release the package. For high-value shipments such as e-bikes, FedEx may still decide to return the package to the local facility if they cannot complete delivery safely. For the best chance of successful delivery, we strongly recommend using FedEx Delivery Manager whenever possible.
What should I do if delivery still fails?
If FedEx is unable to complete delivery, you can contact us at support@postjoyebike.com and we will help check the delivery status. If needed, we can also assist with arranging for the package to be held at a nearby FedEx location for pickup at your convenience.
